In Africa and in many countries in development, people have not banking account. So,they use prepaid cards to make calls.That’ s why prepaid revenue represent around 90% of total revenue of many telcos mobiles companies. The main issue is how posting the correct revenue base on IFRS principles and estimate all airtimes sold but not used at the end of each years

Thoughts on GRAPA

Welcome to my first Blog posting. As GRAPA chairperson for the Ivory Coast, I wanted to share just a few of my thoughts with each of you. A priority for me as chairperson this year is to increase awareness of GRAPA activities for all Telco professionals in mobile companies in Cote d’Ivoire.

We have to ask the question as to how best to communicate those activities with one another. In my mind, there are two primary methods to accomplish this….first is through blogs such as this, which facilitate the exchange of ideas one with another. Blogging is a good way to let our membership know what I am thinking, and some of my thoughts relating to Revenue Assurance. It is also a way to let me know your thoughts as well. By responding to my blog, you can share your thoughts on the same subject with me as well as the GRAPA membership.

Secondly is through town hall meetings, such as those held recently discussing GRAPA Revenue Assurance standards. These web based meetings allow us to meet together as a group and share ideas via webinar meeting sessions. Look for additional webinars to be scheduled in the future.

I am excited to be able to communicate with our membership via the blog. If you would like to contribute your thoughts as to issues which are priorities to you, please let me know so that we might exchange ideas on those issues.

In my next blog, I will be addressing the issues which I feel are most important for the membership in the region.

Mr Désiré Nindjin, Chairperson of GRAPA Côte d'Ivoire

I am a financial auditor and accountant by profession and have been working as senior manager,revenue assurance at Mobile Telephone Network (MTN-CI) in Abidjan since 2006. I primarily work with all departments (Marketing, Commercial, Network and Information System) focusing on revenue streams. Prior to my current assignment, i spent six years experience with Ernst & Young in Côte d’Ivoire subsidiary of Paris Office.
